In 1999 Asher moved from a small Village in Israel and settle in Kerikeri with the idea of having a small restaurant. He didn’t know then that, that small place tucked in a cobblestone mall he had in mind, would become one of the best spots to eat, socialise and have an authentic experience.
Asher’s dream was to have a place where people feel welcome, relaxed and a little bit like in Israel. If you have ever been at the Cafe, you well know that there’s always Israeli music in the background and lots of chatting in different languages coming from the kitchen.
Asher still, after 20 consecutive years, the heart and mind behind Cafe Jerusalem and his aim did not change much. In his own words “Consistency is key. I want people to know that every time they come back their favourite dish is still on the menu”
